9 Things to Know About The Row’s Spring 2017 Show

You can count on Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen to keep things tasteful and intimate in their presentations for The Row. This morning, a small group of guests viewed the Spring ’17 collection in their New York store, which opened earlier this summer in a brownstone on East 71st Street. You won’t be able to see the complete collection until the clothes hit stores next year—a strategy designers have adopted to generate excitement—but while you wait, scroll through 9 highlights here.

1. While they congregated outside before the show, guests were greeted by handsome waiters with coffee in The Row-branded to-go cups.

2. Personal touches are de rigueur chez The Row. Each attendee received a hand-written invitation on plain embossed cardstock.

3. The serene Jacques Grange-decorated space will go down as one of New York fashion week’s best venues, featuring art by Jean-Michel Basquiat and furniture by Frank Lloyd Wright and Jean Royère.

4. Models including Heather Kemesky and Jamie Bochert lined up on the store’s spiral staircase after taking their walk.

5. The first looks out were characteristically oversize in shades of khaki, cream, and black. Every look was grounded by simple sneakers.

6. New for The Row: the ruffled, backless slipdresses layered over trousers.

7. Other cream-colored dresses appeared to be pieced together from fraying strips of silk.

8. Models weaved through each of the store’s rooms and paused on small podiums while guests looked on from velvet couches.

9. The beauty look was pared back and mirrored Mary-Kate and Ashley’s own: rumpled strands, no-makeup-makeup, and fresh skin.
