The ties between fashion and film are increasingly intertwined, and Tuesday’s Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program luncheon offered the latest thread of proof. The occasion, hosted by executive chair of Tribeca Enterprises Jane Rosenthal and executive vice president of Tribeca Enterprises Paula Weinstein, was held in support of artistic development and funding for new and emerging U.S.-based female writers and directors of short-form narrative films. In turn, a cast of stylish Hollywood A-listers came together under one roof at Italian eatery Locanda Verde in downtown New York to celebrate. The main course of the event, sartorially speaking, was none other than Chanel. Guests including Sienna Miller, Katie Holmes, Rashida Jones, and Zosia Mamet arrived wearing designs from the French house in a Karl Lagerfeld–approved display of ladies who lunch.
While the Kaiser is known for his reel of short-form narrative films, which have previously featured the likes of Kristen Stewart and Cara Delevingne, this particular gathering served as the kick off to a three-day workshop leading up to the grand finale: On Thursday, one of the five participating female filmmakers will be awarded full financing to produce a short-film project of her very own. “We share with Chanel the goal to bring to light the next generation of women storytellers,” Weinstein said in a release following the event. All in all, a delightful (and chic) first taste of what’s to come.
