Under the Dome, a 104-minute documentary about smog that went insanely viral in China over the past few days, now has English subtitles. The film was made by Chai Jing, a former reporter on China’s state television network CCTV who left her post to produce the exposé after her baby daughter was diagnosed with a benign tumor. Though the video has reportedly garnered more than 150 million views since it was released on Saturday, it has not been viewed widely by the English-speaking world. Thankfully, a Chinese high-school student kicked off a crowd-sourced translation process through Google Drive and Quip. The translation was completed midday today.
