For many of us, the holidays are a time when we’re back in our childhood homes, sleeping in our childhood bedrooms surrounded by all of our childhood stuff, under the loving and careful care of our parents, once again. And more often than not, that tends to mean that we start acting like children: being fed and doted on and generally tour-directed by our indulgent families, and typically living in a comfort-first uniform of pajama bottoms and oversize sweatshirts stolen from high-school boyfriends until we actually have to go somewhere. But you know what? There may be an actual fashion way to approach total regression: Why not embrace the rainbow-brite saccharine sweetness of your tween years and get all Lisa Frank with it? (Remember Lisa Frank? Of course you do! There has to be a violet-eyed puppy on a Trapper Keeper in your personal history somewhere.)
So how to put some candy floss into your look? Try a pink and purple silk-organza frock to lift those spirits, while a charming red topper is one way to keep warm and merry. And you can still lounge about, only try it in a pair of pastel, cartoon-dazzled leggings instead of those old college sweats. You might look a little out-there, but you also might really like it. So go ahead and indulge that inner child for one last hurrah before 2016; after all, what would the 13-year-old you do?
