“It’s gorgeous, effortless-looking hair,” said stylist Orlando Pita backstage at Carolina Herrera Monday morning. The artfully tousled chignons he created—shot through with glittering beaded threads that were hand strung by Herrera’s in-house team—were anything but simple to execute, on the other hand. “They’re heavy!” he laughed as he twisted (and retwisted) them painstakingly into the hair. Worn down the runway in incarnations of metallic silver for blondes (Natasha Poly and Caroline Trentini) and bronze for brunettes (Irina Kulikova and Karlie Kloss), flashed subtly—and expensively—in the light.
