There were bedazzled bras and bombshell beach waves, yet nothing could distract the eye from the supernaturally toned bodies that ruled the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. It s easy to forget that those chiseled models aren t born that way, but work at it for months, spending countless sweat-drenched hours at the gym. Fortunately, the Victoria’s Secret Angels helpfully reminded the world in a mid-show fitness PSA tonight.
“It doesn’t come easy, it doesn’t come natural—you have to work for it,” explained Elsa Hosk, in a video montage showing the models doing just that: boxing bouts in the ring, rigorous push-ups done in tandem. From lengthening barre work to grueling body-weight circuits, each Angel spoke of exercise as a way of life, not a temporary fix. “It’s about taking care of yourself,” Martha Hunt said, with Adriana Lima chiming in on the mental and emotional challenge of breaking a sweat. “I have to constantly prove to myself how strong I can be," she added.
The segment underscored the simple fact that fitness brings beauty from the inside out—not only as a pair of surreally sculpted legs, but in the self-confidence boost (and endorphin rush) that comes with them. As Jasmine Tookes summed it up: “When I put on those wings, what goes through my mind is, I’ve worked so, so hard to be the best version of myself I can be.” A bit of wisdom to take with you, Angel wings or not.
