If you’ve sensed something theatrical in the air in central London lately, that’s because over the past few weeks, Rambert and Studio Wayne McGregor’s dancers have been twirling in studios, musicians have been meticulously tuning their instruments and stacking their sheet music, and a host of famous faces – from Stormzy to Sienna Miller, Kate Moss to Sophie Okonedo – have been resting their vocal cords in preparation for Vogue World: London.
Around Covent Garden, the anticipation is palpable ahead of the one-night-only show at Theatre Royal Drury Lane on September 14, which promises to be a magnificent, multi-act celebration of the British performing arts, creatively overseen by the BAFTA- and Olivier-winning director Stephen Daldry.
Whether you’ll be watching Vogue World from the Royal Circle, or live-streaming the show at home, you’ll be able to commemorate the culture and style extravaganza with Vogue World’s limited merch collection – a nine-piece range of curtain call-inspired hoodies, sweatshirts, jerseys, bucket hats, caps and coffee cups – dropping exclusively at iconic Oxford Street retailer Selfridges. Imagined in classic black, white, and grey, these memorabilia-worthy pieces were designed especially for cast, crew, and creative directors to wear during Vogue World: London dress rehearsals, and feature slogans that speak to a night at the theatre – from “Quiet Please: the Show is About To Begin,” to “Performance in Progress.” The bucket hats and ceramic coffee cups come Anna Wintour- and Edward Enninful-approved, both being style signatures of Vogue’s international editors-in-chief.
Can’t wait to get your hands on this one-off Vogue World merch? The collection – created using organic cotton or recycled materials – is available to buy in-store at Selfridges from now until Sunday, September 24, at a dedicated newsagent-inspired Vogue kiosk in its ground floor Accessories Hall. This has been created as part of the store-wide creative scheme Yellow Pages, which reimagines Selfridges as a directory of now and showcases the latest in fashion, design, and culture. Here, Vogue and Selfridges bring all the nuances of London’s beloved newsstands indoors, where, surrounded by blooms and perched on benches, you can sip a coffee and flick through Vogue’s September issue. You can also invest in Vogue’s wider Vogue Collection range, which includes all-day tote bags, tees, and sweaters, in stripe and rainbow typography.
Now you too can feel like you’re enjoying a night at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, wherever you are.
