Those of us who have pivoted to working from home during the pandemic are likely so over the idea of WFH fashion by now. And I get it—I certainly am. With endless Zoom meetings and a long list of to-dos, dressing up for 15 minutes of webcam interaction can seem silly and unnecessary. However, there’s an art to perfecting professional Zoom style; you still have to look like you’ve put in some effort, even if it’s not a full-on fashion lewk. And as we head into fall, we’ll be needing to give our WFH style a season-appropriate upgrade. It’s time to leave behind our easy summer dresses or silky tops in favor of something a little cozier.
In the hunt for fall WFH inspiration, why not look to stylish onscreen characters who have nailed the look? Vogue has found six of them, in particular, who have perfected work-from-home fits that are both stylish and completely easy to re-create. Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, is of course, the master of glamorous WFH looks—but your look needn’t be so over-the-top. But it doesn’t have to look totally frumpy. Instead, upgrade your fit with an oversized turtleneck and comfy knit pants. Don’t forget the cashmere socks!

In Euphoria, Zendaya’s wardrobe is all about a grungy, casual-cool vibe. If you’re looking to be cozy while working from home, she’s a perfect style icon. Take cues from the character with a huge plaid shirt (that can double as a dress) and a shearling-lined sandal, should you want to step out for some air.

A Zoom look worthy of a Bond girl is a successful one, indeed. In Die Another Day, Halle Berry defeats evil crime and looks damn good doing it; you have no excuse not to dress up for your morning meetings too. Consider investing in a chic floral dress, because a good print does all the work for your outfit. Also, it’s time to get some new desk accessories if you’re committing to WFH life—a new chic tray or notebook, perhaps.

Some days, you do feel like dressing up to WFH, so why not channel the queen of home office style: Carrie Bradshaw? If there’s one thing the Sex and the City character knows, it’s how to work from home in looks that are worthy of a runway show. But you can do this and also still be comfy. Take Sleeper’s feather-trimmed PJs, which are ready for a glamorous cat nap.

This goes out to all of the hard-working mothers who must also take care of the children during their workday this fall. Your schedule is likely very limited on time, so invest in a uniform like Diane Keaton’s character does in Baby Boom: You simply cannot go wrong with a neutral sweater (add a blazer if necessary), a neck scarf, and sleek gold watch.

For those extra-important Zooms, you’ll want to continue busting out your tried-and-true blazer this fall. Consider one in a pop of color, like Regina Hall’s character did with pink in King’s Ransom.
