Mason may have been signed to a Nashville label when she first started out as a musician, but she’s an English rose at heart; her EP The Tearoom was partly named in tribute to her U.K. roots.
She and Delevingne have a long history
Mason first met her now-girlfriend at boarding school when they were kids, eventually reconnecting at an Alanis Morissette concert 12 years later. “She’s the type of person who has boundaries, and there came a point with me when she wasn’t going to have it much longer, and it was a blessing in disguise,” Delevingne told Vogue editor Chioma Nnadi of Mason, adding: “It’s the first time I feel like I’m in a relationship not trying to rescue someone.”
She was originally a blues singer
“I started to feel more and more like I was pretending,” Mason has said of trying to make a career in blues in 2019. Soon after that, she came up with the performing name Minke and a new blues-meets-pop sound to match.
She’s a fan of St. Vincent (who just so happens to be Delevingne’s ex)
Queer people, and lesbians in particular, have a reputation for staying friends with our exes, and Mason is no exception. She noted musician Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent, as an inspiration in a 2018 interview, several years after Clark and Delevingne broke up.
