At least, that was the case with this week’s crew of best dressed stars: With subtle updates and clever twists, their fresh designs had a big impact, as seen on on celebrities such as Elle Fanning, Pamela Anderson, and Mikey Madison, among others. Not to be missed? Anne Hathaway and her golden Oscar de la Renta dress, and some seriously epic Bvlgari jewels.

At the National Board of Review Gala in New York City, Elle Fanning was the perfect match to Alessandro Michele’s Valentino: The A Complete Unknown star dazzled in his pastel chiffon gown and faux fur shrug, the perfect reflection of her sugary-sweet style. Ariana Grande also gravitated towards pink for the same event, channeling Old Hollywood glamor with a satin Loewe gown and a sweeping shawl. Both looks were formal—but in a fun, upbeat way.

Stellar suits also had a moment this week. Pamela Anderson, for one, chose a shortened Tory Burch two-piece that she paired with leather riding boots. On The Jennifer Hudson Show, Jodie Turner-Smith also slipped into a black pinstriped Sportmax suit that featured a cropped jacket—perfect for showing off her impeccable abs, of course.
