Fashion Week Australia kicks off its 20th edition this weekend, and more than 70 local designers—and buyers and bloggers and editors—are ready to swarm the Harbour City. Of course, when it comes to the land down under, there’s a lot more to see than dingoes and Crocodile Dundees. Here, an Aussie glossary with what you need to know (and have) to take Sydney in style—welcome to Oz.

After years of showing their overtly feminine looks abroad, CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin of Tome are returning home to Sydney to headline. Front row seats to their collection will be one of the week’s most wanted.

The Aussie coffee co-opted by Starbucks and known for its velvety texture is actually microfoam poured into a double shot of espresso. Drink the real deal at Single Origin Roasters in Surry Hills, which serves the highest quality flat white in Sydney. (That’s from expat Giles Russell, who pours a great one himself at New York City’s Two Hands café.)

The more than 100-year-old cult remedy made from hand-picked Queensland papayas that are fermented in Brisbane and mixed with petroleum jelly. Comes in a papaw-colored, plastic tube; smear it on sunburn and blemishes, or do like French makeup artist Violette and save it for unsightly elbows.
