Check, Please! Burberry’s Knight Bar Lands in New York City With a Buzzy Opening Night Party
You can usually spot a Burberry check on the street no matter what part of the globe you are on, but the Burberry experience has just become a lot more immersive. Launched this fall, the house’s traveling “Burberry Streets” concepts debuted in London before making stops in Shanghai and Seoul—and now, the handsomely appointed Knight Bar pop-up has arrived in Manhattan, taking over NoHo’s Temple Bar.
Masterminded by Burberry creative director Daniel Lee, the experience is splashed with brand motifs including the checks introduced in Lee’s first Burberry collection. And, speaking of introductions, Knight Bar launched with quite an opening: Last night the likes of Cara Delevingne, Chase Sui Wonders, Daniel Caesar, Gabrielle Union, Joe Keery, Karlie Kloss, Kelela, Kelsey Asbille, Maggie Gyllenhaal, RZA, and Taylor Hill glamorously assembled at around 9 p.m. After posing for photos, they turned the corner in Temple Bar’s L-shaped layout for passed bites.
Most everyone donned a check of some sort (from Delevingne’s maxi skirt to Kloss’s turtleneck). Dressed, himself, in a fully checked getup and white sneakers, Lee held court in the space, which was draped in a new red check inspired by his Knight bag for winter 2023—a nod to Burberry’s historic Equestrian Knight design, dating back to 1901. Curated by Norman’s, a North London café celebrated for its British fare, the menu at Knight Bar is a gastronomic celebration of all things English—from fluffy scrambled eggs to crispy hash browns. Make your way there now while you still can.
