A Sea of Sequins and Suits—Inside GQ’s 2022 Men Of The Year Party

“Everybody here looks really stylish, and cool—and sexy.” If anyone knows how to greet, and subsequently flatter a crowd, it’s GQ’s Will Welch. Granted, the idea is the publication’s annual Man of the Year celebration brings out just that—The most stylish, the coolest, and, well, as Welch said. It’s about the time of year when fashion parties pick up speed in Los Angeles—and particularly so on this Thursday night—but it’s hard to believe any of the surrounding events beat the Fashion (make that a capital ‘F’) GQ brought to the West Hollywood Edition.

GQ cover star Zoë Kravitz mused about her dress as she entered the venue; Tyga donned a long, sparkling jacket that glistened as he navigated the night’s thick crowd; stylist Maeve Reilly scored a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier ensemble, while Chloe Bailey arrived donning a two-piece from the same designer (the brand had held an event with Kendall Jenner and FWRD immediately before). Meanwhile, cameras flashed on the likes of Luka Sabbat, who arrived hand in hand with his Versace-drenched beau, model Jasmine Daniels. “Comeback of the year” and cover star Brendan Fraser attended the celebration as well. 

Held at the same location as last year, the party sprawled across the indoor-outdoor space, while margaritas, espresso martinis, and flavorful finger foods floated throughout, and a DJ spun out tunes characterized by pumped-up bass and nostalgic disco melodies. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker occupied a booth table with Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox; Evan Ross caught up with friends near the main bar. And fresh off the release of the second season of White Lotus, Haley Lu Richardson was spotted with hands in the air, having a moment with the music. 

Welch’s aforementioned compliment came just before his awarding Pusha T, who sported Tom Browne for the evening, with the Belvedere-sponsored “Big Fit of the Night” award. After came a performance from Kid LAROI of his song “Stay.” Somehow, that was only just the beginning of the evening, and it wasn’t until a couple of hours later that the dancefloor finally cleared and the partygoers, surely regrettably, bid their peers good night.
