When just under 100 international guests arrived at the JW Marriott in San Jose del Cabo, Jonathan and David welcomed them with beachside margaritas and a rehearsal dinner in the Potting Shed at Flora Farms where a standout beet salad was served—and more margaritas, this time infused with carrot purée. Even ahead of the ceremony, there was little to stress about. “The hotel accommodated every wish,” says Jonathan of seeing the bright white platform overlooking the ocean and an infinity-edge water feature for their vows. “We opted to have no wedding party, just our fabulous officiant Natalia. The ceremony was very personal, Natalia told stories about the two of us and our time together.” The support surrounding the couple was palpable in those moments. “We could absolutely feel the love in the air,” says Jonathan. “A marriage like ours isn’t always the most supported, but to have all of those friends and family there in that moment was so special.”

When the sun began to set and the wind picked up, it struck Jonathan that every detail was “truly magic.” As David and Jonathan snuck away for golden hour photos and, after their Prada costume changes, cocktail hour began. “Our guests were escorted into Café des Artistes and we transformed the raw bar into a seating chart via tequila shots,” says Jonathan. A three-course dinner with toasts ensued, and their first dance to Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up” started the party as everyone was invited to the dancefloor. “We had the talented Jared Jenkins put it together, and of course when we did it that was our chance to change into our dancing shoes!” Jonathan admits of the sparkling crystal Louboutins the couple changed into before the wind relaxed just enough for a firework show and sparkler sendoff. “The fireworks went off at exactly 10:31 p.m. as our first date was on October 31. We asked for the finale from start to finish and they did not disappoint!”

Looking back now (and days before the anniversary of their first date), “it seems like it was all a dream,” says Jonathan. “We are so glad everyone had a fabulous time and everything we planned went off without a hitch.” Small details like place cards with guests’ names and individual lists entitled “our favorite things about” for each person were able to deliver the couple’s message of how much it meant to patiently and enthusiastically celebrate their love. “It was a long time planning, but in the end, it was well worth the wait,” says Jonathan, who was so inspired by the entire process he has now decided to enter the event space: “We can make the most magic happen for others as well.”
