Jordan Casteel Wore Custom Batsheva for Her Brooklyn Rooftop Wedding

Though they had initially planned to have a City Hall wedding, the betrothed couple soon realized that the courthouse was closed due to COVID. Instead, with the help of Project Cupid, their close friend gallerist Veronica Levitt got ordained online and officiated the ceremony, which was held on their friends Daniel Watson and Chris Haroun’s rooftop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on the fourth anniversary of their first date. Only a handful of loved ones were in attendance, but many more partook in the intimate ceremony, which was livestreamed via Twitch: For fifteen minutes, virtual guests could watch the sun set over the Manhattan skyline, before the music transitioned from Daisy Days to Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together.” At that point, the camera panned to Casteel, who lip synced as she walked towards Schulze.

After reading their vows and exchanging rings created by Spur—Casteel’s is set with a pearl that belonged to her maternal grandmother, while David opted for two bands twisted together—Usher’s “Love in the Club” sounded over the speakers, prompting a champagne-and-Roberta’s pizza-fueled dance party—on-screen and off. (Plenty of one-on-one time followed: that weekend, the newlyweds headed to their upstate home, where they finished renovations and basked in the late spring weather.) As Casteel puts it, “We both felt an overwhelming sense of joy during the ceremony. It was a beautiful day to declare our love in front of our family and friends around the world.”
