On Friday night, Lauren Santo Domingo drew a small, fashionable crowd to her Gramercy Park South town house to celebrate her friend and French-born, Italian-bred fashion muse Bianca Brandolini d’Adda’s new role as Estée Lauder’s global Re-Nutriv ambassador.
“When I first met Bianca, she was all of 10 years old,” said Santo Domingo, giving a speech about her and Brandolini d’Adda’s decades-long friendship, in front of guests Mary-Kate Olsen, Tabitha Simmons, and Lazaro Hernandez. “She burst through the door in a school uniform, an adorable bundle of love, laughter, and legs—and nothing has changed.” At the gathering, which was as laid-back as it was elegant, Brandolini d’Adda snaked through the party in a black Vivienne Westwood corset and high-waist tuxedo trousers as guests sipped cocktails out of hand-painted floral-motif Lobmeyr glassware. “I’m so happy to be in New York and celebrating this new adventure,” she said before pausing for a powder touch-up with her engraved Estée Lauder compact. “It’s been a great journey, and I can’t wait for more adventures.”
In lieu of a formal sit-down dinner, supper was served roaming style in the foyer, a main course of cacio e pepe spaghetti swirled out of a sterling silver serving bowl and topped with shaved black truffle, a nod to Re-Nutriv’s hero ingredient: the black diamond truffle, which is harvested by hand in the southwest of France for its powerful anti-aging properties. Just before the clock struck midnight, attendees began to shuffle out, bellies full of Champagne, spaghetti, and black truffle. “I hope everyone had as much fun I did!” said Brandolini d’Adda with a smile. But Santo Domingo, the ultimate hostess, wouldn’t have had it any other way.
