How Madrid Celebrated LGBTQ+ Pride

After two years of restrictions, Madrid’s LGBTQ+ Pride demonstration flooded the streets once again on July 9, under the slogan “Facing Hate: Visibility, Pride and Resilience.” More than 600,000 attendees enjoyed an event that has become an essential part of the capital s summers, mixing protest with music and celebration. One of the largest Pride marches in Europe, it gathers people of all generations and backgrounds to revel in diversity and resistance.
