Following Tuesday’s cruise and couture show in Rome, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s tenure at Dior has come to an end after nearly 10 years as creative director. The only woman to have overseen the house of Dior, Grazia Chiuri brought a distinct point of view to the storied French brand. It’s no wonder, then, that her designs became an ubiquitous presence on the red carpet.

Over the course of her tenure, Grazia Chiuri blended Dior’s heritage with her own perspective. One area where the house excelled was paying homage to Christian Dior’s most iconic designs. Throughtout her tenure, she has riffed on the New Look, fashioning bar suits for the likes of Elle Fanning, Yseult, and Monica Barbaro. At the Cannes Film alone, she recreated the 1949 Poulenc dress for Jennifer Lawrence and the Junon dress for Natalie Portman.

But she has also left her own DNA on the brand. In her inaugural show, she sent “We should all be feminists” T-shirts down the runway; she upped the ante at the 2021 Met Gala when Cara Delevingne wore “Peg the Patriarchy” emblazoned across a white vest. She has also put her stamp on formalwear, from her fondness for diaphaneity to classic ballgown silhouettes.
