Marina Moscone Hosted an Afternoon Aperitivo to Celebrate the Launch of Casa

Friends of Marina Moscone gathered in a Tribeca private residence for a celebratory afternoon aperitivo in honor of the launch of Casa, the designer s latest homeware endeavor inspired by her Italian and South African heritage. 

While many of us spent a bit too much time in our pajamas during the lockdown, Moscone had a spark of inspiration to handcraft beautiful tactile homeware. "The Casa collection started because I m Italian and South African. I have my family home in Italy that my sister Francesca and I grew up in, where I did a whole architectural renovation," Marina Moscone told Vogue. "All the throw pillows, for instance, are special deadstock fabrics we ve used over the years." Some of the aforementioned throw pillows were hand woven on a loom by Moscone herself. 

As guests stepped off the elevator into the grand loft apartment, caterers with silver platters served a selection of posh cocktails, white wines, and Aperol spritzes galore. Jaws dropped at the architectural beauty, stunning views, and apartment decor, which seemed like it had been designed with both Moscone s Casa and Spring 23 RTW collection in mind and displayed throughout the home. Elegant floral arrangements of bright blue sea holly and tall, pale pink calla lilies accentuated the colors of fabric showcased nearest to them. Against each tall window and ample built-in cabinetry of the living area hung a piece from the slow-fashion brand s recent collection, inspired by the celebratory nature and grand imagery of La Belle Époque.

"I m very kind of tactile, and I like to roll up my sleeves and be a little bit more artful with the collections," Moscone laughed, wearing a black satin irregular-plisse top of her creation. To say Moscone is a self-sufficient and tactful artisan is an understatement. Hand Stitching, antique beading, embossing, painting, and stamping fabric repeats by hand, alongside artful drapery and twisting of textiles, are all in a day ’ work for the designer. Moscone made it a point to inject charming personal touches into her designs. "My grandmother from the South African side used to call me my honeysuckle rose, " she said, pointing to one artful pillow with scripted handwriting painted on the fabric. "My father used to say an Italian phrase, don t go anywhere before you wake up in the morning. He used to tell me this before sleeping every night," Marina Moscone told Vogue, gesturing to another pillow of similar font yet unique top-stitched design. 

At the end of the evening, guests bid adieu with vibrant smiles and inspiration for their own home-decor spruce up.
