Kim Kardashian, The Beckhams, and More Attend the Opening of Pharrell Williams and David Grutman’s The Goodtime Hotel in Miami Beach

On Friday night, David Beckham, Pharrell Williams, and the hospitality impresario David Grutman hosted a joint cocktail party at The Goodtime Hotel on Miami Beach. While Miami-Dade County has lifted pandemic-related restrictions, the Goodtime team aimed to keep certain safety measures in place: the fete took place entirely outdoors on the hotel s breezy, 20,000 square foot pool deck called Strawberry Moon, and capacity was capped at less than half of the venue s total allowable number (guests were also required to arrive with face coverings). With this high-energy yet lower-key approach, the party was held as a doubleheader: an official opening of the hotel, on which Williams and Grutman are partners, and the kickoff to Beckham s Inter Miami soccer season (his team played against Los Angeles on Sunday).

Servers and wait staff wore special Adidas Stan Smith’s that had been printed with The Goodtime’s praying figure logo (Grutman is a genius merchandiser on top of his hospitality work). The deck’s pink-and-white striped pools glowed rosy as the sun slid behind the Miami skyline, as guests including Kim Kardashian (wearing Dior), Future, Maluma, and more filtered in. Victoria Beckham, who celebrated her birthday on Saturday, was spotted in chic patent leather trousers, while the Beckham’s firstborn son, Brooklyn, looked casually cool wearing a backward Inter Miami hat. His fiance, Nicola Peltz, was also in attendance. Elsewhere, guests spread out across the expansive deck, sipping Haig Club cocktails (David Beckham is a partner in the whiskey company) or Grutman’s signature Purple Reign libation. 

“My first hotel needed to break the mold,” said Grutman, pausing for a moment before showtime. “Miami is known for being a vacation spot, so we needed to dream something up that hadn’t been seen before. It’s all about the experience, and we see that experience being something that starts before you arrive to well after you’ve left, as you’re looking back at your Instagram feed. We made this to be really, really distinct.” “This has just been such an incredible process,” added Williams, himself in a dapper Chanel tuxedo jacket and a million-dollar watch he co-designed with Richard Mille. “I’m a producer, and seeing this come to life hasn’t been all that different from producing music. You’ve got Dave who is thinking about every last detail, Ken [Fulk, the Goodtime’s designer] developing the aesthetic, and you get to sort of meld all these pieces together to create something amazing.” When asked about his favorite detail of the hotel, Williams pointed at the pools. “Right here.” At the end of the evening, both Grutman and Williams were awarded keys to the city by Miami and Miami Beach’s mayors.

Michael Fascitelli co-developed the venue with Eric Birnbaum. Fascitelli, also wearing the customized Stan Smiths, mentioned that the Goodtime was about providing “accessible luxury, and a place where people can balance relaxing and partying…We’ve got to get this one right, but I see the Goodtime becoming a major brand. I’d love to eventually bring it to other locations.” Judging by the feel-good vibes, we’d say that goal is certainly within reach.
