Noah Kahan Channels His Vermont Style to Sell Out Madison Square Garden

Noah Kahan used to live in New York City, but you’ll never catch him calling himself a New Yorker. “I could never find my way around the city,” he tells Vogue. Still, “Playing Madison Square Garden is an honor as a former New York resident.”
To play MSG is one thing, but to sell it out—for two night—is an entirely different ballpark. “It s one of the greatest venues on earth,” Kahan says. “The moment when my manager told me that we sold out two nights, I couldn’t believe it—even up until I played there the first night.”
Kahan leans on the most essential self-care to carry him through every performance, big and small. “Preparing for a show usually just requires about three hours of vocal prep with tea, steam, and warmups,” he says. “I also try to make sure I sleep at least eight hours the night before, or I start to get cranky.”
For the momentous occasion of performing at MSG, the singer wanted to stick close to his personal style, which he describes as “organic,” (“I wear a lot of sets and jean jackets,” he says.) and honors his Vermont roots. On night two at the legendary venue, Kahan and stylist Elliott Taylor chose a black set from Alex Mill over a white tee—his pants hand-painted with psychedelic white swirls by Emily Miller—and a pair of Nisolo boots.
Below, follow along with Noah Kahan as he prepares for his second sold-out show at Madison Square Garden—plus a pit-stop on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
