Aerin, Emilia Wickstead, and Over The Moon Hosted a Summer Soiree at Aerin Lauder’s East Hampton Home
On a summer Friday in East Hampton, Aerin Lauder, Emilia Wickstead, and Over The Moon founder Alexandra Macon hosted a bridal and registry-themed shopping event and dinner at Lauder’s home. After near-endless rain from Tropical Storm Debby, the skies parted for an idyllic day of trying on Emilia Wickstead’s ready-to-wear bridal and Pre-Fall 2024 collections, as well as shopping and adding Aerin pieces to Over The Moon registries. Guests sipped on various spritzes and Wölffer “Summer in A Bottle” rosé and nibbled on flower-pressed cookies from Acquolina Catering, while touring the house—which was once owned by Aerin’s grandmother Estée and features a living room whose décor is relatively unchanged since then—shopping, and talking about all things weddings.
After a short break, dinner guests gathered at 6:30 p.m. for cocktails. Event planner Augusta Cole expertly layered the tablescape with pieces—some things old and some things new—from Lauder’s personal collection, including petite silver and raffia vessels filled with dainty summer florals from The Bridgehampton Florist. The ambiance was made complete with the soft glow of Aerin’s perfectly scaled Milla Hurricane glasses. The evening’s delectable menu was illustrated by Laura Lines Calligraphy and seamlessly matched the Lisa Fine Textiles tablecloth. After everyone was seated, Lauder stood to welcome dinner guests.
“This is a very special house,” Lauder said. “As I was telling some of you, it’s my grandmother’s, who I think was such an incredible female pioneer. And I think tonight, when you see all these wonderful brides and lovers of Over The Moon, you realize the power of women, being supportive of one another, and the idea of communication. Over The Moon is an amazing concept and you can tell by the energy in the room that everyone is excited to be here.”
Guests included Over The Moon and Vogue.com brides past and present: Land of Belle’s Annabelle Moehlmann, newlywed and Chefanie founder Stephanie Nass, newlywed Vivian Tu, Julia Berolzheimer, Vera Wang SVP of Global Communications Priya Shukla, and bridal content creator Hope Lavine. The Bar co-founder Bridget Bahl—whose viral wedding at the Plaza Hotel last year was heavily influenced by Aerin Lauder’s classic reception at her own 1996 wedding in the Hamptons—fully appreciated the evening’s effortlessly elegant tablescape.
Also in attendance at this intimate dinner were Over The Moon style director Grace Givens and VP of merchandising Emilie Ghilaga Carlisle, engaged Vogue.com writer Shelby Wax, bridal content creator Hope Lavine, and We Met at Acme podcast creator Lindsey Metselaar. Photographer Anne Rhett, who recently photographed Mariah Kennedy Cuomo’s wedding, and Alex Katz captured the convivial evening on camera.
“Last night, I felt like a bride the night before her wedding praying for good weather,” co-host Macon joked during her toast. “At Over The Moon, we celebrate life’s milestones—big and small—and pride ourselves on partnering with brands that share our commitment to this. Our brands are connected in that they all aim to bring joy to weddings, family gatherings, holidays, dinner parties, and more—and I feel so lucky to be able to share this evening with these two incredible women, their teams, and all of you.”
After dinner, guests lingered, chatting and listening to music on sofas in the living room, and effectively turning the storied Lauder home into their own “Club Aerin”—and a late night evening of revelry and tipsy shopping fueled by post-dinner drinks commenced. “Looking around the room tonight and seeing Emilia Wickstead on everyone is the biggest gift of all when you’re a designer,” Wickstead added. “When you think about coming to the Hamptons all the way from London, this is what you dream of! I’m over the moon!”
