Inside Rebel Wilson and Ramona Agruma’s Dolce Vita Wedding in Italy

Actor, writer, producer, and director Rebel Wilson and fashion and jewelry designer Ramona Agruma were introduced to each other by a friend over text message in November of 2021 while on opposite sides of the world. Rebel was filming a commercial on a remote island in Fiji, and Ramona was in Los Angeles. Then, after two weeks of communicating virtually, Rebel dropped everything and flew to LA to meet Ramona and see if their connection felt as strong in real life.
“I’d never been more excited than on our first date at Hotel Bel-Air,” Ramona remembers. “After two weeks of talking and feeling a connection, I was nervous. Rebel arrived, and I instantly noticed her warm, charming smile. She put me at ease straight away. I asked her to hold my hand, and she did. The chemistry was pretty instant.”
Early on in the couple’s relationship, one of their favorite first dates was at the happiest place on earth—Disneyland—in early December of 2022. “As the sun set, it was becoming really cold, and Ramona gave me her oversize cardigan to wear,” Rebel says. “She insisted that I wear it, even though it would make her cold. That’s just typical of the type of person she is. So giving, so loving!”
After just over a year of dating, the couple got engaged back at the theme park, in front of Cinderella’s castle, on Valentine’s Day in 2023. “Bob Iger had organized for a special area to be roped off surrounded by topiary trees for privacy,” Rebel reveals.
Their wedding took place last weekend in September at Hotel Cala di Volpe in Porto Cervo on the Italian island of Sardinia. “We went on an amazing trip there early in our relationship with our friends, the Ganzis,” Ramona recalls. “We ate amazing food and found it to be the most romantic spot. So we decided we wanted to have a small destination wedding there with just family and close friends.”
After the two were engaged, the entire wedding came together surprisingly quickly. “We did it in under three months,” Rebel shares. The couple split duties, with Ramona taking the lead with the couple’s event planners Sara Carboni Events on the design elements, and Rebel focusing on entertainment at the reception. For this, the performer, who is known for her breakout role in the musical movie Pitch Perfect, did not hold back—she flew in a 20-piece live band to do three sets of music.
The couple describe their wedding day outfits as “a duet,” with both women choosing to wear Pronovias. “We didn’t want to look too similar, but we both have classic taste,” Ramona explains. “We wanted to wear traditional white bridal dresses and thought the dresses from Pronovias were gorgeous.” Rebel’s stylist Elizabeth Stewart played an important role in choosing the dresses. Rebel selected the Lynn: a princess-style wedding dress in a Mikado fabric with a corset waistline and a strapless neckline with custom detachable sleeves and a royal train, styled with a crystal beaded belt. Meanwhile, Ramona’s dress—the Emerald—was an A-line wedding gown, also in a Mikado fabric, with a high corset waist, a sweetheart neckline, and a cathedral-style train.
Both brides wear minimal jewelry in real life, so they opted for timeless Tiffany Co. rings. In addition to that, Ramona wore a jeweled headpiece, and Rebel wore a decorative hairpin, both from Pronovias. Make-up and hair for Rebel was done by her London-based glam team, with Mikey Kardashian on hair and Jey Calderbank on make-up, while Ramona’s hair and make-up were done by Lena Yasenkova.
The ceremony began at 5:30 p.m. on the windswept waterfront at Hotel Cala di Volpe. A flower arch was installed at the end of the aisle for the brides to stand under, and both Rebel’s and Ramona’s families were sitting at the front on either side of the aisle. Four violinists played live for the brides’ walk down the aisle. Rebel’s best friend Nicholas was the master of ceremonies, and the couple’s 22-month-old daughter Royce, and Rebel’s niece Sovereign served as the flower girls. “A lawyer in London, he can always be trusted to keep the crowd entertained as he’s a great speaker,” Rebel says of Nicholas.
The couple wrote their own vows, and Rebel’s niece Sovereign presented the rings to the brides so they could exchange them. “We hadn’t heard each other’s vows until the ceremony, so it was really emotional to hear what we’d written,” Ramona says. “[And when the ceremony was over], we felt so happy and grateful that all of our family and friends could join us in Sardinia.” At the end of the 30-minute service, the brides kissed and exited to “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” by Natalie Cole as guests cheered them on and threw white rose petals.
