How Football Star Stefon Diggs Shops in Paris

During Paris Fashion Week last month, the fall 2023 shows were lined with celebrities in the front row—whether it be actors, singers, or athletes. One sports star on the scene, for the very first time, was football pro Stefon Diggs, a wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills. “It was one of the best experiences that I’ve had in my lifetime—it’s something I’ve dreamed of for a long time,” says Diggs, who appreciated the theatricality of it all. “I train all year round for 17 games, so I [appreciated] the thought process and work that goes into producing a good show.”
Diggs is a big fashion fan, and has been since he was a kid. “When I was younger, I didn’t have the financial stability to be able to buy all the clothes [I wanted to], so I had to be more creative with what I had,” says Diggs. “My thought process was, ‘If you don’t have much, make it look real good.’” That attitude has made Diggs’s personal style bold and unique; the athlete delivered a number of different statement looks—including a full-on face shield at Balenciaga—in his VIP seats at shows like Rick Owens, Givenchy, and Lanvin, “It’s hard to pick a favorite—each show had its moment,” says Diggs.
Outside of taking in the new collections and serving looks, Diggs allowed Vogue in on his downtime in Paris. On his agenda was lots of shopping, and eating the best food Paris has to offer. The athlete says he’s been focused on elevating his style outside of the stadium, and was looking for pieces to complement his new sophisticated aesthetic. “My everyday [style] is starting to go really gentleman—eclectic, but clean,” says Diggs. “I definitely was a streetwear kid for a very long time. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve gravitated toward a more elevated style. I’m more of a boots guy now, and proper silhouettes that fit my body.”
And what are Diggs’s must-visit stores in Paris? He perused the new goods at Enfants Riches Déprimés (he loves their cuts and silhouettes) and Loewe. “They have a women’s fragrance that I wear consistently, it smells so amazing,” says Diggs. “I don’t even know what it’s called; I know the bottle.” Another must was checking out Balenciaga’s new couture store, which opened last year. “I definitely grabbed a bunch of pieces,” says Diggs. “I bought this one-of-one couture purse that was on the runway. I said, ‘Hopefully my girlfriend is on her best behavior that I can surprise her soon.’”
