Sunset Boulevard has long lured creatures of nightlife and thanks to Ian Schrager, there s a new draw on the Boulevard to keep them coming back, the latest location of the Edition Hotel in West Hollywood. Tuesday night, after cutting the ribbon at the swanky space, where a roof offers cinematics views of Hollywood, Schrager and Arne Sorenson co-hosted a splashy dinner and after-party to christen the new property.
Guests like Billy Idol, Winnie Harlow, and L.A.’s early aughts party queen Paris Hilton were treated to a lavish family-style feast at the hotel’s restaurant Ardor, a restaurant with lush, jungly greenery. Dishes were curated and crafted by head chef John Fraser, who served up internationally inspired plates using seasonal California ingredients.
Post dinner, the party flooded throughout the entire grand hotel lobby, as more Los Angelenos arrived in droves to take a peek at the new space on the block. The guests spilled onto the roof where DJ Allie Teilz kept the energy alive with an electric set, while guests like CeeLo Green, Alana Hadid, and Diplo could be seen mingling alongside the sweeping, glittering view of Los Angeles below. Drinks were passed poolside, as guests enjoyed a classic al fresco evening with California’s famously perfect weather.
The night could have easily been a smash had they stopped there, but the generous hosts decided to take it up a notch. Another wave of guests arrived, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Lucky Blue Smith, to the hotel’s late-night music venue Sunset, where Janelle Monae surprised the crowd with an unforgettable performance.
Many didn’t want to see the party end, and partied into the late-night hours, enjoying DJ sets from Q Tip and Pookie. The best part about a hotel party? No need for the night to ever end! Should guests find themselves not wanting to leave, they really don t have to. Reflecting on the night, Schrager beamed, "It was a really high energy New York party in West Hollywood. All four venues—the Lobby, the Ardor restaurant, the Roof, and Sunset—were packed...there was a line around the block to get in!"
