I can think of a few good reasons

why camouflage is a fashion cliche.

It s such a versatile pattern, could look like anything

from a virus to a jigsaw, even a floral print.

But that s not what Dries Van Noten was tapping into today.

He likes the fact that camouflage

is the ultimate masculine print.

Camouflage has a very, very versatile personality.

That s why I really enjoyed doing that,

trying to push it as far as we could

by combining in one outfit three different

camouflage prints, but at a certain moment that you forget

that you re looking at camouflage.

That s also why I wanted to put it on a pure white catwalk.

[Tim] There s no hiding place.

There s really no hiding place for that.

Camouflage is such a part of the lexicon

of menswear these days, you know, seeing him reinterpret it

and make it elegant in some ways

but also still really masculine was a feat.

[Tim] There s a real hybrid essence

in that collection too, I thought.

Yeah, I think his tailoring is really good.

He always manages to make a nice statement with it,

but then he loves the sportswear.

Camo that was in that collection was just amazing.

Gorgeous the way he threw them together.

Very few people could pull that off.

You have a lot of combinations where you have

elegant jackets with Velcro fastening,

you have the very classic shirts with the jackets

which are inspired on fencing clothes.

So here, for instance,

you have that very, very light quality of organza,

cotton silk, and then we quilted it

but we put the extremely fine cotton wool under it

so you get that quilt feeling but, in fact,

the weight of the jacket is nothing.

Here, you have camouflage on a silicon nylon,

completely transparent for trenchcoats or raincoats.

[Tim] That collection will be a challenge to men?

It shouldn t be.

Some designers, it might be a challenge,

but I think that one, there s some normality

about the strangeness of it that just works.

[Tim] Did you see this collection

as a reaction against your last one?

It s continuation for me.

I never throw away everything,

it s like one step after another, which I do.
