Caribbean Queen: Joan Smalls and Family in Puerto Rico

We re shooting in Old San Juan in Puerto Rico,

my hometown with my family.

We re doing a photo shoot about my daddy s girls.

I m the baby of the family, so it s three of us.

Really funny, extremely intelligent both of them.

We re very, very close to each other,

and I was always the little annoying one.

Always picking on them, I still do.

Extremely over-protective,

even though I am the youngest one,

I bully the boys that come around.

(laughing)

They re my biggest cheerleaders in what I do

and they really encourage me and push me

to do bigger and greater.

Family gives you a sense of self,

and I think that s really important to

always be remembered of where you came from,

and is just a good background

on who you re gonna become.

(sigh)
