On the Podcast: The Big Winners and Best Looks at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards
Released on 01/06/2025
Let s get straight into it.
Well, I guess let s,
do we want to start with red carpet?
I like to go chronologically.
Okay. Okay.
So who did we think was best dressed of the evening?
Oh, that s a hard one.
Straight to the top.
I think, I don t know if there was like one person,
but there were a few people who really stood out to me.
Okay, give us your five, Jonah.
There were some moments.
For me, obviously Mikey Madison,
who I ve been talking about a lot recently,
because I just think she s fantastic.
I loved Anora, and I think she s going
to get snapped up by one of these brands.
And now she s kind of having fun experimenting.
It s true, it s rare that someone who s so...
has such frisson around her, doesn t have a contract.
Exactly, so she s able to experiment.
And she wore Bottega, which is obviously
potentially Matthieu Blazy s last look for,
well, last red carpet look before he takes on Chanel,
which we ll have to wait a while for
cause his first collection isn t until October.
But I thought that was nice to see her.
There were a couple of vintage moments.
She looked like a goldfish.
Yeah, she did look like a goldfish.
A goldfish or a gold?
Gold space fish.
Okay, I just wanted to clear that up
for the listeners.
Speaking of Chanel, I thought Margaret Qualley
in Chanel was really beautiful, super pretty.
I liked Anya Taylor-Joy.
I am always here for an archive Dior moment,
and I thought that looked stunning
with her kind of icy blonde hair
and that very pale pink.
Great to see the silk finale dress
from McQueen s fantastic show.
Love Sean McGirr, and it felt great to
see it on Angelina Jolie.
That was a major moment.
You know, that s another house that isn t able to
kind of have these big faces or contracts.
So they re usually relying on people
to really wear their clothes cause they love them.
And it was so good to see that look on Angelina.
So, I think those were some of my favorites.
How about you, Leah? What did you like?
I loved Naomi Watts.
Oh, Naomi Watts-
That was great, in Schiaparelli.
She looked gorgeous in Schiaparelli.
I thought Janelle James looked fab.
What was she wearing?
She was wearing Siriano.
Oh, I didn t know that.
Yes.
But her little pixie cut was great, she just-
Yeah, the glam was really good.
The glam was good, and the dress.
I m here for a pixie cut, cause I have to say,
oh, actually, special mention to Emma Stone,
looking amazing- Yes.
With that pixie cut,
and that Vuitton was very pretty.
And then I also loved Elle Fanning.
I will say when I first saw it, from a distance,
I thought that it was like
a leopard bralette top with the full skirt.
Yeah.
Which I would ve been into.
But then when I saw that it was actually a gown,
like, it looked like a gown.
Who made the dress, I didn t catch it?
Balmain.
Yeah, it looked like a gown was made in the atelier.
Like, you had to get an appointment, like in 1950.
I loved that.
Yeah, it was very feeding into
that Hollywood retro glam look that s been percolating for-
Yes.
Over the past year I feel, right?
I also thought Colman Domingo looked great in Valentino.
But I always love everything that he wears.
That fluffy, fluffy bow.
[Jonah] It was very good.
I know, the bow was great.
It had great volume.
And I thought Andrew Garfield looked good too
in his green.
He needs to shave though.
A little pendant necklace.
The men looked great.
They did, the men looked great.
There were a lot of men wearing green,
which I thought was interesting.
Yeah, I don t know how we feel about Jeremy Strong.
[Leah] I don t know if I m very- Oh my gosh.
There was a lot of accessories at once.
It was great.
I loved it. I loved it.
I don t know what.
Wearing a turtleneck-
And sunglasses?
What was it?
It s like, it s camp.
Someone tell me.
It s camp. I loved it.
Do we know who made it?
Oh, Loro Piana.
Oh, it was Loro Piana. I wondered.
Very unusual look for Loro Piana.
I do respect his commitment.
Totally respect his commitment. That guy.
I thought it was so fun.
Adrien Brody looked really good too.
Yeah, Adrien Brody, for me, a three piece suit.
That s the way to do a three piece suit.
In Tom Brown, yeah.
Yeah, it was very-
It was a winner s outfit.
Yeah, it was a winners outfit.
I was surprised, like for me,
I thought Zoe Saldana, who always looks fantastic,
I loved the cape that she wore on the red carpet,
but I didn t feel like, her dress was
quite low key for a winner s look.
Like, she won.
She could have gone with a more vibrant color.
She could have, I mean,
she could take, she could wear anything.
I mean, Saint Laurent had a big night with all those,
with the whole cast of Emilia Perez, I thought.
They did.
Because for those who don t know,
Anthony Vaccarello and Saint Laurent
produced Emilia Perez.
Did they do all the clothes, or they just consulted?
Pretty much.
I mean, watching,
I felt like watching the film,
I could spot all the Saint Laurent shoes there.
Oh really?
It s like Where s Waldo?
Yeah, it was very,
yeah, if you know your Saint Laurent,
it was a fun one to watch,
cause you could tell all the clothes.
Her dress was really simple,
but I thought Zoe Kravitz looked very pretty.
Always.
Yeah, she always does.
She never misses, I ve never seen her miss.
Do you guys think Emilia Perez
is widely seen or not at all seen?
No.
Yeah, cause we re a little skewed by our world
I don t think it s widely seen.
Like a lot of people at Vogue have seen it.
I saw it, but I don t most of my friends have seen it.
And actually, Nikki Glaser,
when she came in, she was like,
it s really hard doing jokes for this year,
because it s basically Wicked and Timothee Chalamet
are the only thing that everyone knows.
And she was like, Emilia Perez
is nominated for 10 awards on Netflix,
stars Selena Gomez, and she s like,
Not a single one of my friends have seen it.
So how can I make a joke about it?
And it s sort of true.
It s just not something that s in common parlance.
A lot of people might check it out now, though.
I mean, it did really well.
So, I do think it s a very strange movie though.
So for me, I am not surprised that
it has not become like a Wicked.
Yeah, Nikki Glaser did like 10 minutes on Timothee Chalamet.
She did!
[laughter]
I loved that. And she kept going back
to Stanley Tucci as well.
No, totally. He loved it.
No, he loved it, he loved it.
You think? Yes, he loves the attention.
[laughter]
I mean, I think she epitomized the night for me
because it seemed like such an eager
to please Golden Globes and like it did please.
Like, it was a very enjoyable, you know.
I like that she was sort of the butt of her own jokes.
Yeah.
She was... Yeah, it was good.
...not taking herself too seriously.
And I found that quite charming.
She was barbed, but she wasn t like, you know,
too harsh or ugly, you know?
She just really, I thought she set the tone for the night.
Yeah, she was great, I give her 10 out of 10.
Yeah.
Wow, Jonah.
[overlapping chatter]
I mean, I laugh, I laugh a lot.
I mean, I m a laugher, so it s not that hard
to get a joke out of me.
But like, she was funny
and it felt like she wasn t like you said,
it wasn t like below the belt too often.
And it was, she struck the right balance.
You know what else was funny?
Seth Rogan when he criticized-
So funny.
The really weird camera thing they were doing.
And he was like, This is stupid.
I was like, wait more Seth Rogan, please.
[laughter]
Can we talk about those little fun facts?
The bubble is too much.
Okay. Obsessed with the bubble.
Jean Smart never had a day job outside of acting?
Psychotic. [overlapping chatter]
No, I liked the popup video,
like text bubbles, but the guy voice-overing,
like filling the space with more facts?
I was like, No, no, no, no.
I did think the bit-
It s like for those who can t read were also-
They were like Snapple facts.
I didn t have my glasses, I couldn t see it.
So I appreciated the voiceover.
I did like the bit about, like, the count
of the shout outs and how Mario Lopez had one.
Oh, that was really funny.
See that back to Nikki Glaser. She was great.
Yeah. I mean,
the other thing it did really well,
I think is that it sort of added some drama
to the Oscar question.
If the Golden Globes sort of supposed to set the table
for the Oscars, like I thought last night did it really well
because it spread the words around, it recognized a lot
of like very little scene movies.
We talked about Emelia Perez.
There s also A Different Man, which I haven t seen.
I defy you to find one person who has seen it.
And I m Still Here.
The Fernanda Torres. I was like, You are.
[laughter]
The Best Actress win was unexpected.
So it sort of scrambled the narrative around the Oscars
and makes the Oscars ever more interesting.
Oh, you didn t think it was like Brutalist,
Emilia Perez sweep?
No, because I think the Oscars is inclined to favor movies
that are much more conventionally like award bait movies
like Conclave or even Anora, which I loved.
Just a straight up enjoyable movie
and got shut out last night.
Yeah, it s true. And Conclave only won,
what did it win?
Screenplay or something?
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Very dry speech.
Yes, indeed. Indeed. [laughter]
Anyway, my God, I was obsessed with Audiard,
just taking his time with his translator
when he won for Emilia Perez.
That just sent me over the edge.
Saying the names.
He s like- That was great.
Who did you say he s like?
Jerome Seydoux.
And the woman s like Jerome Seydoux.
[laughter]
I know. It was very Duolingo.
It was like- Exactly.
The translator was excellent though.
She didn t miss a beat.
No, no. She was a star. Oh God.
Oh, you know who else was a star?
I was very into, I love an unexpected speech moment.
I feel like last year I forgot who it was.
Was it Melanie Lynskey who thanked her nanny?
Or, but this year Colin Farrell thanking
Carolina in Craft Services.
Yes! That was a highlight for me.
I want to know More about Carolina.
I know, profile on Carolina. Right?
Yeah, his speech was very charming.
So into Colin Ferrell.
Yeah. Always has coconut water.
I know.
Frigid January.
Okay guys. So I want to know what you all thought
of Demi Moore, like both the win and the dress.
I thought that her bit with Margaret,
where they re like, What are you doing here?
Was sort of charming.
Yeah. Yeah.
Did you like the speech where she talked about being
in the industry for like 30 years
and being a popcorn actress.
I liked the speech. It was great.
Yeah. The speech was good. And I love the film.
I mean, oh, you did?
Yeah. And I don t really love a gory film,
but I thought it was really good.
Yeah. I missed her... Bit too long.
...speech but why was everyone talking about, like,
did she say something on Twitter?
Someone was like, Name the producer s name.
Did she say that? [overlapping chatter]
That s what I wanted her to do.
What did she say?
She said, Some producer called me a popcorn actress.
Yeah. She said that years ago she was called
a popcorn actress.
And they were like, You re gonna make movies that
draw people to the box office and are popular,
but you re not an actress that s going to, you know,
like win awards and get accolades.
And she said this was the first time she d ever been
nominated for anything.
Right. Wow. Or that she d ever won.
Which I m surprised because Ghost is a masterpiece.
[laughter]
I mean in [indistinct].
Shout out.
I was like, Wait, what do you mean you
didn t get nominated for Ghost?
Chloe, what s your favorite Demi Moore movie?
GI Jane.
I was gonna say,
I didn t want to be embarrassed though.
I was gonna say the same GI Jane.
You know what though?
If they had the box office category when GI Jane was out,
that probably would ve been a contender.
Oh, what is it called?
Cinematic experience? [laughter]
I think Cinematic Achievement? I don t know.
It s a, it s a stretch.
It s such a stretch. And it was so annoying
because it led to the Wicked like moment with Jon Chu,
who I mean, very talented guy.
I m really happy for him. And it s a success.
You didn t like his metaphor about the yellow brick road?
No. No. It was strange.
And did you watch Ariana Grande behind him
while he was talking?
No, but I like that Jeff Goldblum was holding his,
he seemed like he wanted to be holding his heart.
Like that was jester but he was actually sort
of holding his stomach.
Like he was in like, deep, like, having GI issues.
[laughs] Oh gosh. Yeah-
That was, that was a lot.
But I haven t seen Wicked and it s not my thing.
It s so fun. You gotta see it.
Okay. Okay. Have you seen the play?
No. Nothing.
I m like completely, no, nothing on Wicked.
[laughter]
Saw both Sebastian Stan movies this year though.
No Wicked though.
Sebastian Stan, excellent podcast guest.
Really great.
With our friend Jeremy Strong.
Huge fan.
Jeremy Strong presage, she said,
I will not wear brown this year.
And he sure didn t. He didn t.
You can take credit for it because
you asked him a question.
Yeah. I was like, Why do you only wear brown?
[laughter]
He was like, Goddammit.
Like, I raised you.
What was that color? It wasn t sea foam.
It was kind of a, it was close to sea foam.
And there were a lot of interesting,
I mean there was like a- Andrew Scott.
Not my favorite.
Yeah. Oh, he was shut out though.
I thought Ripley was so good
and I thought he should have won something.
Yeah. Andrew Scott.
There were a lot of referential dresses.
Yeah. Like it was,
there was big old Hollywood energy, opera gloves,
sort of what someone joked was like
the Audrey Hepburn biopic contest.
Which was like Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez and-
Selena looked amazing.
Someone else was sort of doing it, I forget who, but-
I mean, I guess Zendaya was doing it.
Zendaya.
But it is just funny to see how much of a thing
it has been to reference,
not just a period, but a very specific look.
Like Ayo Edebiri, Leah wrote about-
Yeah.
Her moment. Yeah.
The Julia Roberts moment. Tell us more.
Yeah, so she, I mean she s been working with Lueve
for a while and she said that she was really inspired
by what movie did Jonathan Anderson costume design?
Queer and Challengers.
Okay. Yeah.
So she said that she was really inspired
by Queer and his work on that film.
And as her and her stylist, Danielle Goldberg were
dreaming up what she was gonna wear,
they thought about Julia Roberts,
1990 Golden Globes wearing a gray suit.
Another reference was also
Carmelo Anthony. [laughter]
I m not sure if it s the suit he wore when he got drafted,
but it was of that era, early 2000s.
Very oversized, baggie gray.
Well, and last year she referenced Whoopi Goldberg
and Whoopi Goldberg had a iconic white suit moment.
She did. Yeah. And Ayo did a version of
that by the row.
That, I have to say was one of my favorite Ayo moments.
She really went all out though cause she also
dyed her hair red and had like
long wavy red hair moment.
Yeah, she looked great.
Yeah, I thought she looked cool too.
Yeah.
And she had some bronze or something happening with-
Yeah, she had a grill.
Yeah, she had a grill.
And it s called Metal Frames that makes them,
that she loves and follows on Insta.
I look how much she experiments
and she just seems to be having so much fun
and she looks adorable.
And then my favorite moment, I mean we were all,
as the kids say gagged-
I know what s coming. I hear it coming.
Come on, guess. [giggles]
Kylie and Timmy only make their public appearances
annually inside the Golden Globes.
And they did not walk the red carpet together.
But as soon as the ceremony started,
we saw them canoodling at the Bob Dylan table.
What s that movie called? A complete unknown.
Yes. Bob Dylan was not there.
[laughter]
The Bob Dylan table.
And Kylie Jenner, what you could see,
cause you know, we didn t see photos of full length.
We just saw her from the back
and we re like, Oh, slinky dress.
And then some eagle-eyed Twitter user matched it
and said, Kylie Jenner, the last two years
has been cosplaying Elizabeth Hurley with Hugh Grant.
Last year she wore a sort of black lace dress, also vintage.
And this year she wore the exact chain mail,
Versace dress that Liz Hurley wore in 1999 for, what was it?
The premier, Four Weddings and a Funeral?
It was a big story in the 90s doc,
the Vogue in the 90s documentary.
It was like before celebrity dressing
and she just called Versace
and was like, Do you have anything?
And they sent her just like a shopping bag
of like a little dress in it.
And Kylie wore it last night.
And it was a major moment for all of us.
Yeah.
It makes me wish they d actually used
Hugh Grant in some way.
Oh my God, you re obsessed.
I m obsessed.
First of all, that movie s good, Heretic.
Second of all, that man is on one.
Like he is pleasing everyone he comes into contact with.
He s fantastic.
And he was there in the room
and nobody did anything with him.
Sad.
But I was glad Timothee didn t win. I have to say.
Glad he didn t win? Whoa!
Oh my gosh.
Well, I had this premonition
that he was gonna steal it from Adrian Brody.
And I actually think The Brutalist-
I ve like seen all the movies that are up for rewards
and the only one that I think
I ll remember from this year
is probably The Brutalist.
Wow.
It s a challenging movie.
It s three and a half hours long, but it s really something.
You know?
And Adrian Brody s performance is like amazing.
And I also saw-
I have to go to a theater, right?
Yeah. You do, you do.
It s like a, yeah, it s like a proper cinematic experience.
So how does the intermission work?
Can someone explain that to me?
It s truly like, you know
Popcorn actress. The screen has
like a text slide that says intermission and then it has-
And you just leave for 10 minutes?
You can, I was at a screening,
but they ran it the same way they would run it in theaters
and then there s a clock that ticks down.
So you kind of usefully know when it s about to end.
And yeah, I mean I m mixed on it
because anything that adds length,
I m a little bummed by, but like,
if you have to make it to the restaurant-
I appreciate that.
Yeah. That s the case in a number
of Bollywood movies.
They have intermissions.
Those are so long. Yeah. I didn t realize that.
All the old movies do. Sound of Music,
The Great Escape.
Dancing with Wolves, remember that?
Oh my goodness.
We were talking about GI Jane a second ago.
Kevin Costner is not admissible?
Anyway, so I thought that movie, really,
I was glad to see it win.
And did not know that Mr. Brady Corbet,
I did not know that his surname was pronounced Corbet.
And I actually thought the Golden Globes announcer
had it wrong.
And then for the podium, he was like,
remember when he shouted out his daughter,
his adorable daughter?
Oh, that was so sweet.
Why did she go up on stage?
Yeah. A lot of people get to go up on stage.
You know, Zoe Saldana charged the stage
for Best Original Song.
Yeah, she did that.
Anyway, I was glad to see that movie win.
She wanted to rap.
That was crazy.
Anyway, I was glad to see Adrian win
cause I think he was really deserving.
And I thought Timothee might steal it from him.
That s why I was glad to see him not win.
Okay. [laughter]
Do you want to do a break?
Yeah. Okay.
So we re going to make a quick break
and we ll be back in a moment.
And we are back.
I want to know what people s favorite accessories were.
For me, it, it was Kieran Culkin s temporary tattoos
and Selma Hayek s emeralds.
Wow.
The emeralds were- I mean, they were bonkers.
I thought she looked incredible.
I know.
We re very into her grays.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. She looked just kind of-
Embracing your grays and your emeralds is a real fly.
[laughter]
Pinot energy. [laughter]
Totally.
Yeah. She definitely, I can t think of,
and I guess I appreciated Ayo s...
Grill?
Grill. Yeah.
Taylor, the bucket hat, is that your fave?
Back to Jeremy?
Yeah. Yeah. No, I was into all things Jeremy.
All things Jeremy.
There were some male hat energy, Audiard,
Jacques Audiard also was wearing a pork pie hat
for one award and not for the other.
And maybe he decided it wasn t quite the look.
It was the second. Oh really?
I was like, you decided you needed to put that on?
The Eddie Redmayne suit was a lot for me.
Oh, I liked it. Okay. Alright.
That Eddie can handle it.
I don t know.
He usually wears-
I liked it when Nikki Glaser said,
I ve seen more actual peacocks in my life than
I ve seen shows on Peacock. [laughter]
That got a chuckle out of me.
I was like, Peacock s the best streaming service.
It s amazing.
I don t think I have Peacock.
You should get it. It s great.
I don t think I do either.
No, free ads. But I m into Peacock.
What do I have?
There s one service that Graham won t sign up for
and I m not watching and I can t see the agency become it.
You have to get Paramount Plus.
That is where,
I mean, how many minutes did it take me to get to Lioness?
That is where Lioness is, is on Paramount.
Oh my God.
I was wondering how we had gone so long without
talking about Lioness.
Yeah. I mean- Why isn t it nominated?
[chuckles] Great question, Chloe.
I haven t seen it. But Taylor is, passion knows no bounds.
And the interest is spreading around the Vogue offices.
Okay. It s just you and Sam Sussman.
No, it s not. It s Sasha too.
I was about to say, there s one other person
I ve heard about.
There s one other person.
No, man. Liam.
Liam talked to Liam and you do not doubt Liam s taste.
I don t. He s like, That is good.
He watched it. Anyway.
We haven t talked about the Shogun actors.
What d you guys think?
I think Anna Sawai is so beautiful.
I wasn t sure... Yeah, she s gorgeous.
...that was the most amazing dress I ve seen her in.
But you guys tell me.
She actually wore a cool dress to the after party
that I kind of wish she d done.
Like, I just felt a bit safe, her dress.
Yeah. It was very safe.
But it, I mean, she looked beautiful.
Also, I don t need peplums to be back.
No. There was a lot of peplum going on.
Who was the guy who was so charming,
who got up there and yelled, You dunno me!
It was Tadanobu Asano
and he s one of the actors in Shogun.
And I really appreciated that he like
introduced himself to the audience.
Totally. He had a great time.
The Shogun really got its due.
I mean that was a hit of a show,
but it swept all four awards it was nominated for,
so it had a big night last night.
He was actually my favorite character in the show.
Oh yeah? Yeah.
Now that I know who it is.
I m a big Cosmo Jarvis fan.
Oh yeah. He s so handsome.
Yeah, he s good. He s good.
He was up there on stage.
Oh, so cute. I m so into this.
Yeah, I was very into Shogun.
Yeah, I have to say,
I find the Golden Globes so satisfying
because I feel like at this moment in my life,
I watch a lot more TV than new movies.
And so I feel much more invested.
Also, I haven t watched Matlock yet.
I love Matlock and Kathy Bates. What a dream!
I thought that was ageist, the little like fact bubble
that bopped up and said like,
Kathy Bates was about to retire...
That s what her fact was?
And Matlock came along.
I was like, Come on.
She was funny though.
She really brought it.
She s fantastic. Yeah. Fantastic.
She s gonna be a Matlock like no other.
Melissa McCarthy was funny too.
I d forgotten how funny she was.
Yeah. That-
I don t remember what the bit was now.
I don t remember the bit.
Like, I remember thinking it was funny too,
but what was she talking about?
The pool noodle she had wrapped around her
was a lot for me.
It is a lot of fabric.
We should probably know what the bit is if we re gonna
bring up Melissa McCarthy.
It was a lot of fabric. She was funny.
Oh, it was about bears being addicted to cocaine.
Oh yeah. I thought that was funny.
Oh my God.
You know who didn t think it was funny? The Bear table.
It panned to them and they were like-
Ebon Moss-Bachrach was so confused.
I thought he had a knowing smile on his face.
Where was Jeremy Allen White?
Where was Jeremy Allen White?
I know. Whoa.
What s the biopic he said? Bruce Springsteen.
Maybe he was locked into that Bruce Springsteen set.
And did Hacks, did they really have
to go to work at six this morning?
I couldn t tell if he was joking or not,
but when they accepted the award-
I thought it was funny.
It was like Kate Winslet. Don t give her a shot.
Yeah. It s like, We have to film tomorrow.
Oh, sorry. Jean Smart s only 73.
Oh, rude. Talking about ageist.
She looked fab too.
Never seen a minute of Hacks though.
Oh, it s so funny. Oh, it s so good.
It s like cranking along, season four coming.
Is that right?
It is really funny. Yes.
I m amazed. I have to say I love the first season
and I would not have anticipated
that it would ve gotten four seasons out of that.
Like, I felt like the first season,
like the arc was complete.
Yeah.
Right. Are there any shows that got,
since you re a big TV person now, Chloe, are there shows
that got recognized last night
that you re like, ready to see?
The Penguin maybe?
Absolutely not. Wait, that s a show.
Totally. Colin Ferrell. Oh my God.
That s what brought Colin Farrell to the stage.
Well I thought it was a movie.
No, it s a show.
I actually do know about The Penguin
because Arthur Albert is obsessed with Batman.
But whenever we see the ads for The Penguin
and I m like, It s the Penguin.
He s like, That s an old man.
And it s like completely ruins the bit.
Yes, I will not be seeing The Penguin.
What?
We didn t get any Jack Lowden for Slow Horses.
I thought that was missed.
Oh, I know. There was no Slow Horses moment.
That was a missed opportunity.
I would ve loved Gary Oldman on stage.
Yeah, that would ve been great.
Oh and no, Only Murders in the Building.
Yeah, that s true. Amazed that show
is still going.
I loved Selena Gomez arriving with like her two walkers
of like Steve Martin and...
She looked great though.
[overlapping chatter]
People loved Presumed Innocent and that did not win.
I don t even know what that is.
No, me neither.
Is that a song from Emilia Perez?
No, it s a show with Jake Gyllenhaal.
Oh.
Oh yes. Presumed Innocent? Yeah.
Wait, what are we talking about?
I thought we were talking about Selena Gomez still.
No, we were talking about TV.
Yeah, we re talking about TV shows.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. That show was a big hit.
That did not win awards. Yeah.
What do we think of Benny Blanco sitting next to Selena?
I thought it was very sweet.
It s lots of nice couple moments.
Yeah. They looked like a real couple.
He seems nice.
And she seemed so happy and just looked gorgeous.
I thought she looked so pretty.
I was sad Nicole Kidman got robbed.
I thought, Babygirl-
Okay, Babygirl was so unhinged. I saw it on Saturday.
I need to see it.
It s so good.
I m seeing it this week.
It s a total conversation piece.
Can t wait. I can t wait.
Yeah.
It s quite good.
I still think she might win the Oscar.
I think the Fernanda Torres win
for I m Still Here was a little bit of a outlier.
It was a surprise.
Yeah, for sure.
Keri Russell, I thought looked really good.
She was wearing some kind of sculptural voluminous thing.
Oh yeah. It had like a cape situation?
Yeah. But I love The Diplomat.
It was pretty.
Sorry, Stephanie. What?
Okay.
She s like, I ve got enough.
We got it. We got it.
When Taylor s emptying his notes...
I can t believe it.
...into the podcast, it s time to go.
All right, hold on.
Let me just make sure I ve said everything I want to say.
Exactly.
[Leah] Should we talk about being emo
or did we already do that?
Anything. [laughs]
Oh gosh. Now my mind s blank.
Okay. Why don t we go to
the Leah and Chaman on what made you emotional?
Were there any, I mean, it s not the Oscars,
but I do feel like there were some touching speeches.
Was anyone teary-eyed at anything?
Don t look at me. Stone hearted.
I was laughing. Podcasters here.
I mean, I thought it was very, very,
very sweet when Adrian Brody spoke to his parents.
Yeah. Yes.
Yeah. That was very sweet.
That was very sweet.
Very sweet. It was nice that they were there
and they were clearly very proud of him.
And the director of Emilia Perez reminded me-
Jack Cordier.
Yes. I thought that his speech was quite touching too,
speaking about this moment in time
and people who maybe feel overlooked or unsupported.
And
I thought it was sweet that he talked about sisterhood.
I have a sister, love her so much.
[laughter]
And I do think the world would be a nicer place
if more people could experience that.
Note for me:
Wallace Gromit was robbed.
Anyone seen Flow?
Apparently Flow was a silent cat movie.
Oh no. I m gonna go. [overlapping chatter]
It has no dialogue.
No dialogue, apparently.
Well, it was made by Latvians which actually was a moment.
You know, that was like good for Latvia.
That was.
He said that that put them on the Golden Globes map.
Totally. Ayo actually told me
that she was hoping to meet Wallace Gromit last night.
Yes, exactly.
She said that s what she was most excited for.
Well, because Ayo s dog s name is Gromit.
Oh. Yes.
I know a lot of dog shout-outs.
Yes. There was a Brisket mention
for Glen Powell on the red carpet, there was-
Pelof s Mother one. Pelof s mother one.
Yeah. Big dog energy at the Golden Globes.
So I do feel like, we mentioned this a little bit,
but I feel like the Globes tends to be like a pre,
sets the stage for what the Oscars is gonna look like.
Right. Right, right. Yeah. It does serve that role.
And you were saying that this year sort
of sprinkled the love around in a nice way.
Yeah. Yeah. And it sort of complicates the picture.
Makes the Oscars more interesting.
You know, because I think on the one hand,
you ve got these sort of art movies in Emilia Perez
and The Brutalist that really did well last night.
But on the other hand, I still am of the opinion
that the sort of more mainstream, crowd pleasing,
Oscar bait movies, by which I mean Conclave,
first and foremost,
but also in Anora, you know, which I think is
like a genuinely fun couple hours at the movie theaters.
I think those two still
are looking really good for Oscars.
So for me it s a real tossup.
And makes the Oscars ever more interesting.
Only like three months to go. [laughter]
Why do they move the Oscars to March? Makes no sense.
I think it has something to do with Fashion Week?
I think it was so people can go to Fashion Week.
Okay. Sorry. Blame us.
Yeah. And the looks can be ready.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Which on that note,
I remember being a bit underwhelmed last award season.
But I thought last night we saw some really good fashion.
So I m excited to see- The Oscars.
Yeah. Who brings it? Yeah, what they re wearing.
It ll be exciting.
All right.
Taylor, Leah, thank you very much for being here very early.
Thanks for having us.
Thank you for having us.
What a pleasure. That s it
for the run through.
See you Thursday.
