Big news came yesterday in the fashion world

when Chanel announced that Matthieu Blazy

is the new artistic director of the House.

We re all really excited here at Vogue

about Matthieu s appointment.

We ve loved his work at Bottega Veneta.

We loved his work when he was the anonymous designer

at Maison Margiela over 10 years ago.

What will we see?

Obviously, we ll see Matthieu s version

of the little Chanel suit that is the iconic garment

that Coco Chanel gave us decades and decades ago.

How else will he interpret it? I don t really know.

I haven t thought about it that much.

I expect to see an incredible level of detail

and a love for detail in his clothes.

He s also highly imaginative,

and as we mentioned in our podcast yesterday, he s funny.

You know, he did the Richard Scarry Lowly Worm book

in the Bottega Veneta s incredible Intrecciato.

How will he inject humor into Chanel?

That s definitely a question on all of our minds,

and of course,

Chanel has this very, very classic flap quilted bag.

How will he reimagine that?

I think for all of the Chanel lovers

and the many people we know who collect Chanel bags,

it s an exciting moment with lots of potential

for new dream acquisitions.

Now, unfortunately, we have to wait until October

to see his first collection for Chanel.
