Swarovski Presents: Mary Katrantzou Autumn/Winter 2011

It s been to me, this season, more about print itself,

I ve been wanting to move into different silhouettes

and push that forward.

[upbeat funky music]

It was, to me to almost take a masterclass

in print and pattern,

and make the merge in a way that s not as referential

as a room or perfume of anything like that I ve done.

It s still inspired by objects dyed and porcelain

and pin long vases and all that you d find in a home.

So there s a continuity to that theme,

but it was done in a way that s just pattern,

on pattern, on pattern.

It is inspired by Faberge and kind of the depth

of the Coromandel screen and all kind of objects

start merging into one and the flowers

that you d have in a porcelain vase.

I think it just brings in the texture of that,

it s nice, I guess, for the catwalk to make that in 3D

and I think the Swarovski really allows

to bring that luxury.

[Jo Jones] It felt like I was sitting through

a haute couture show.

I mean incredible shapes, the prints were stunning.

The jewel encrusted detailing in the skirts made you feel

like you were actually looking at Faberge eggs.

[Yasmin Sewell] Caftans, leggings, suiting, dresses.

It was just beautiful.

I mean everyone was sort of like gobsmacked after that show.

It was quite extraordinary.
