At the Gucci dinner in Milan the night before the Italian house’s provocative runway show, singer-songwriter and cellist Kelsey Lu had one too many martinis. “I’m very hungover,” she said as she was getting her braids extended before the show. None of the previous night’s indulgences left a trace, however—Lu emerged fresh-faced and put-together for the show in a houndstooth Gucci look.
The singer sat in the front row, in a bucket hat that she paired with some mismatched heeled boots (one was metallic gold, the other metallic silver). Beside her were other front-row fixtures: Beck and Dachi Cole, the artist who collaborated with Lu on her video for “Blood.”
Lu offered up a few more standout looks while in Milan. She toured the famous graveyard Cimitero Monumentale di Milano in a puff-sleeve violet top and a leather Gucci satchel. She said she almost in tears the whole way through and was especially impressed by the Italian marble found throughout the cemetery. “Milan marbles have a certain level of elegance that causes you to want to rip your shirt off and press your breasts against the cold stones.”
She captured her Milan Fashion Week experience in an exclusive photo diary for Vogue.
