Milan Fashion Week has entered full swing, and runway stars are flaunting their distinctive styles with one killer outfit after the next as they dash from shows to after parties to after-after parties. Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Irina Shayk are doing so with the aid of the exact same off-duty staple: the must-have leather trench coat.
The trench coat has been a major street style trend throughout the entire Fall 2019 show schedule, but its Milanese spotting on a crop of supermodels is all about leather interpretation. Take Kendall Jenner’s The Matrix-inspired take yesterday: Jenner nailed airport style, stepping off the plane in an all-black ensemble that featured a double-breasted leather trench with a turtleneck, joggers, Adidas runners, and rectangular shades.
Today, Bella Hadid gave her leather trench a more casual vibe with a splash of retro inspiration, slipping on a shiny Burgundy trench in patent and pairing it with a groovy ’70s-style collared shirt underneath. She finished the look with blue jeans and accessorized with white high-tops, squared sunnies, and a brown croc shoulder bag. Meanwhile, Irina Shayk went for a more polished, dressed-up version of the look. Attending the Tod’s presentation earlier today, the model wore a buttery brown, double-breasted trench with a black shirt and trousers, allowing her striped handbag to be the only color pop. She rounded out the look with loafers and larger sunnies.
So, no matter the color or silhouette, come spring the leather trench is a trending item to definitely keep one’s eye on. It’s clearly got the It girl stamp of approval.
