The Dane We All Want to Dress Like Is Launching Her Very First Line of Scandi-Minimal Shoes

You might say that Pernille Teisbaek is Copenhagen’s most famous fashion ambassador. For years, she’s been capturing the attention of street style photographers and Instagram scrollers with her minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic, which features clean lines and an even cleaner palette. Teisbaek is a mom of two, a stylist, and a cofounder of the Copenhagen-based marketing agency Social Zoo. Now, she is adding designer to her résumé.
This week in Paris, Teisbaek will unveil a collection of skin-tone shoes that she has created in collaboration with luxury Italian footwear label Gia Couture and its founder and designer Barbara Borghini. There are three styles: puffer-inspired two-straps, thong mules, and flat sandals. Each style comes in five colors that are meant to be worn seamlessly and complement a variety of skin tones. Teisbaek and Borghini are debuting the line to the press and buyers in Paris. The shoes, which start at around $330, will be available in February 2020.
“Barbara was the one who approached me about this collaboration,” Teisbaek said by email while on her way to Paris for the presentation. “I knew her brand because she’d done a previous project with my dear friend Alex Eagle.” She adds, “Barbara came to Copenhagen, where our design process started a few months ago.”
Teisbaek knew she wanted her collection to feature a nude color palette, minimal shapes, and perfect heel heights in an effort to “add longevity to the designs, which is something that I always take into account when buying a pair of shoes.” Teisbaek’s personal style is at once practical and ever-evolving, two things that made Borghini excited to work with her. “Her style is elevated, and she is smart, with a big personality,” Borghini says of her latest design partner. “She is never predictable, but, at the same time, she is effortless.”
