If last summer was all about the charming yet subtle kitten heel, summer 2019 promises to be the polar opposite. Let us introduce you to the shoe of this summer: a pair of sky-high platform sandals.
The shape started its ascent during the Spring 2019 shows in September, where models at Miu Miu, Jacquemus, and Saint Laurent teetered their way down the catwalk in chunky heels. When done right, this footwear choice is very much in opposition to anything dainty and sweet. Try styling them like Bianca Jagger and her clan of ’70s disco glamazons, or take inspiration from ’60s mod dolly birds with their A-line dresses and perfect coifs. For those staunchly opposed to retro, go the practical route with a great pair of flare jeans or a shorts suit.
