One can always count on Alber Elbaz for a romantic good time at his Lanvin presentations, and this season was no different. With a thumping soundtrack, signature spotlight lighting, and a cast of eclectic models, Elbaz sent out a myriad of looks ranging from the deconstructed to the ruffled to the sharply tailored. Find out everything you need to know about the show here.
1. Lanvin returns to the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts each season, but today’s set stood out for the chain pulls hanging from the ceiling and the sign made of lights reading “Lanvin” behind the catwalk.
2. How better to get guests in a good mood than to offer up heart-shaped cookies?
3. The show opened with of-the-moment model Ruth Bell in a pouf-sleeved white button-down, black trousers, and capped-toe pumps.
4. Many early looks came complete with undone seams and threads trailing off.
5. Elbaz returned to a favorite theme this season, using nude-colored fabric to create visible underpinnings for his intricately draped dresses and gowns. Not only beautiful but, as this “backless” number demonstrates, the trick provides a way for women to wear bras with their eveningwear.
6. Elbaz’s love affair with sequins is no secret, but this season’s glittering party frocks were among some of his best.
7. Up next were prints celebrating the signatures of the Lanvin house. Everything from perfume bottles to the brand’s iconic bag and shoe shapes were reimagined in Warhol-esque Pop colors.
8. The final look, worn by Julia Nobis, featured the location of Lanvin’s Paris store, a place one can find the designer on occasion interacting with customers.
9. Models’ hair was pinned up in faux pixie cuts created by Guido Palau.
10. After a brief experimentation with prints, it seems Elbaz is back to wearing all solid colors. Not that we’re complaining—few can pull off a chartreuse bow tie quite like he can.
