While Alexa Chung might have been sharing daily outfit pictures of her bikinis, floral sarongs and summer dresses during a trip to Italy’s Amalfi Coast, back in London, al fresco dressing requires October-levels of layering.
This weekend Alexa shared her off-duty London uniform, comprising an oversized distressed leather biker jacket, a chunky cream knit jumper, a white button-down shirt and baggy jeans. This is very in line with the overall mood for fall 2023, as the dominant aesthetic was about plain-speaking basics.
At Miu Miu we saw leggings paired with hoodies and boxy wool coats, while at Gucci the on-the-run look comprised baggy jeans and an ankle-sweeping trench coat. “But such insouciant luxury boasts superior specifics: those blue jeans at Bottega Veneta are crafted from wafer-thin leather, that Fendi trench coat is lined with beige sequins,” Ellie Pithers writes in Vogue’s fall 2023 trend report.
Alexa’s outfit might be centered around basics, but thanks to the oversized silhouettes and beautiful fabrication, it has a fashion edge. This is a school of dressing we can expect to see a lot of come September.
