Actor Lupita Nyong’o attended Sunday’s Tony Awards ceremony wearing a custom one designed and crafted by Pakistani artist Misha Japanwala. The piece, centered around realistic recreations of a person’s body, was full of symbolic significance and power for Nyong’o. “Misha, thank you for this special opportunity to BE EXACTLY HERE, IN THIS BODY NOW.,” the actor wrote on Instagram. The snap felt particularly poignant when one considers that bare nipples (but not recreations of them!) are banned on numerous social media platforms to date.
