The thong sandal is about to have its day in the sun if Elle Fanning has anything to say about it.
The actor took a stroll in New York City today in an outfit befitting a cool spring day. She wore a prim white pointelle tank top underneath an open white button-up shirt, and a pair of baggy, low-rise indigo jeans which she rolled up to show off her shoes. Contrasting with her sweet top, Fanning donned a pair of shoes that could otherwise be expected at a climbing gym. Her Miu Miu thong slingbacks were made of red climbing rope. Indicative of the recent cultural obsession with rock climbing and the resurgence of thong sandals, these shoes are truly at the center of the Climbing BF, Fashion GF Venn Diagram.
Fanning’s fashion climbing shoes weren’t her only eye-catching accessory. She also donned a pair of oversized periwinkle sunglasses from Chanel. Perhaps her most under-the-radar piece was her purse, though. She toted a black intrecciato woven vanity case from Bottega Veneta, which is currently unreleased. She also carried a bag from Bookmarc, Marc Jacobs’s West Village accessories outpost.
