The goal of a remix is usually to make a song more club-friendly. But Ghost Culture, the musical project of 24-year-old Londoner James Greenwood, already makes very danceable music—anyone who wants to reimagine one of his songs had better take it into a decidedly more creative direction. And that’s precisely what Gabe Gurnsey of Factory Floor does in his remaking of “Giudecca,” parlaying the disco leanings of the original into a glitchy, off-kilter remix that sounds like _2001’_s HAL trying to sing karaoke. “It s how a remix should be,” Greenwood says. “Completely different from the original.” On January 5, Ghost Culture will release a new album for Phantasy Sound. In the meantime, take a listen to his take on “Giudecca” below.
