When it comes to shoe trends, this year has seen a resurgence of the Noughties-favorite flat — the ballet pump. These pointe-inspired shoes have taken centre stage, gracing the runways of fashion powerhouses like Alaïa, Miu Miu and MM6 Maison Margiela, while also appearing on the impeccably manicured feet of street style icons worldwide. (We even crowned them the shoe of the season” earlier this year.) However, influential dressers like Hailey Bieber and Lily-Rose Depp are now favoring ballet pumps with a block heel, which are a playful twist on the classic flats.

This week, for a day out with her husband Justin, Hailey opted for a minimalist off-duty look, layering a cream button-down shirt over a white T-shirt, which she then styled with a black, A-line miniskirt. As for the accessories, she kept things classic with black Saint Laurent sunglasses, gold Bottega Veneta drop earrings and a custom Alex Moss necklace adorned with diamonds. However the standout element of her outfit is her black leather ballet pumps, which boast a 3-inch block heel and Mary Jane-inspired straps. Of course, she paired these shoes with white socks, adding her signature preppy spin to the look.
Previously, Lily-Rose was also seen sporting a pair of similar block-heeled pumps crafted by Repetto (sans the Mary Jane-inspired strap), who have provided pumps to prestigious French ballet companies like the Opéra National de Paris. Lily-Rose’s outfit had a more ’90s grunge-inspired aesthetic, as she wore her black heeled ballerinas with a peach cotton minidress and a gold cross pendant necklace. This Repetto obsession is nothing new for Depp, as she has been spotted wearing the red and black styles almost consistently since 2018.
