Iris Law just proved that, with the right accessories, the little black dress is anything but boring. Last night the 22-year-old model attended a celebration of the footwear collaboration between Jimmy Choo and Jean Paul Gaultier in a look befitting both brands’ heritages: a classic idea with a surrealist twist.
Law’s base outfit—an LBD with black tights—was simple in theory, but her dress of choice was anything but. She opted for a bubble hemmed minidress whose top was composed of fabric medallion appliqués, leaving slivers of torso exposed.
When it came to accessorizing, Law leaned into trends without sacrificing her individuality. Naturally, she rocked a pair of shoes from the Jimmy Choo / Jean Paul Gaultier collection, opting for a pair of pointy-toed slingbacks. The reflective silver shoes, while definitely on-trend, still maintained some uniqueness thanks to their black shoelaces. Also a sign of the times, Law donned a pair of white, full-length Gaultier gloves decorated in a black surrealist pattern.
She (literally) topped off her look with a devil-horned beanie, which first appeared in Gaultier’s fall 1993 collection and was worn onstage by Madonna. As Gen Z—like all generations coming of age before them—are often painted as enfants terrible, Law’s look offers a cheeky wink in return.
