Jenna Ortega has stomped all over the press tour for the second season of Wednesday. Working with stylist Enrique Melendez and a glam super team that includes hairstylist Cesar Deleon Ramirez and makeup artist Mélanie Inglessis, Ortega has expanded the celebrity formula of method dressing into an entire cast of gothic characters in different dramatic modes. Think: evil pirate swathed in Vivienne Westwood, and a reptilian-skinned Ashi Studio gown with grown up gothic glam to watch multiple red carpets at her premieres.
Last night, Ortega stepped out once again for Wednesday’s New York fan screening, wearing an airy black slip dress with cascading leather ruffles and a low, low back. Her cherry cola-hued, bedhead hair was teased high, falling effortlessly in long layers around her face, framing deep, dark smoky eyes under her bleached brows. It was all very ’90s Angelina Jolie or Rose McGowan.
We know Ortega loves a frankenshoe. (Just yesterday, she wore a mesh-stiletto hybrid from Black Suede Studio). It was in her choice of footwear that she deviated from what could otherwise have been among the more classic red carpet looks of the promo tour so far; she wore a pair of witchy, patent leather lace-up boots, with a square toe and eyelets laced up above the knee from London-designed, Spanish-made brand Miista. (A Charli xcx favorite). The ‘Shana’ boot, previously seen on the likes of Madonna, also features an angular, wedge heel. The magic of mall goth, sexed up.
Accessories and footwear have been a keen detail of Ortega and Melendez’s work together. Earlier in the day, Ortega gave us a modern update to Christian Dior’s New Look era in a Willy Chavarria spring 2026 skirt suit and a wide-brimmed, sleek peaked hat with the viral Christian Louboutin pointe shoes. Another look saw her accessorize her Elena Velez dress with skin-toned mesh shoes and the debut of a one-of-a-kind Himalayan croc Aupen bag.
Wednesday season two drops this week, but none of us are ready to say goodbye to Jenna Ortega’s gothic sartorial symphony yet.
