We’re closing in fast on fall, and it’s around this time of year that the wardrobe rotation gets tough—but Jennifer Lawrence has the answers.
It’s that short, annoying season that can feel tempermental and almost impossible to dress appropriately for. Where slow, almost unnoticeable, and then sudden dips in temperature require sartorial smarts: delicate and light knits, flowy pants, tailored separates, classic denim. Well, Lawrence has already nailed the art of transeasonal dressing, with the help of every Spanish cool girl’s favorite all year round brand.
The actor stepped out earlier this week in New York with her husband Cooke Maroney, wearing an ensemble with transitional styling in mind. She wore a pair of sheer, flowing dark blue skirt-pants from Paloma Wool, the Barcelona-born label by Paloma Lanna known for its floaty, layered, and clingy core silhouettes in diaphanous fabrics, subversive knits, and effortlessly cool styling of elevated basics. The choice of skant was also perfect for Lawrence and Maroney’s mode of transportation, hopping on Citibikes to get home after dinner.
Long having ascended from the era of the “Instagram brand,” Paloma Wool has become a regular in the wardrobes of Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber (wearing the instantly recognizable polka dot capri pants), and Lily-Rose Depp (whose wardrobe seems to consist solely of Paloma Wool, fellow Spanish label Gimaguas, and Chanel). Usually pre-empting and setting the season’s trends to come (like Bieber’s aforementioned polka dot cropped pants), Paloma Wool’s skirt-pants (“skants”) have been a huge hit this summer. While the likes of Kylie Jenner, Rihanna, and Alexa Chung have been creative with the scarf-as-skirt trend, Lawrence takes the easy one-and-done approach. She wore them most recently too in warmer temps with a classic tee and open toe sandals.
The rest of the outfit was textbook Jennifer Lawrence, and more of a lesson in transitional dressing. She paired the pants with a navy blue sweater and, of course, the black glossed leather Viv ballet flats from The Row. Digging into her enviable collection of bags, she opted for the Dior Medium D-Vibe bowling bag. Last for accessories were layers of gold and blue accented necklaces, and a delicate anklet.
While the actor’s pants are long sold out—as tends to happen with pieces she’s spotted in—Paloma Wool is readying to drop a new collection for fall. More skants please! Our fall fashion rotation depends on it.
