Julia Roberts is making the most of her time in Paris: She’s been presented with the huge honor of the Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) title at the French Ministry of Culture, and attended the César Film Awards. But she’s also used the trip as a time to experiment with her preferred trouser length.

First, she was to receive her honor from the Minister of Culture Rachida Dati. For the milestone occasion, Roberts wore a Stella McCartney suit, a dove gray tailored number with oversized structured shoulders and a back tail feature, worn open with no button and a crisp white shirt underneath. The suit trousers were cropped above her ankle, roomy and capri-like. She paired it with Roger Vivier heels and an oxblood bag from the brand too. The look recalled her iconic Golden Globes Armani men’s suit, which she once told Vogue was “one of my all-time favourite outfits.”

“I could not have known that it was going to become this, like, statement outfit. I just thought I looked fabulous, and I still have that suit,” she said previously.

The contemporary update, though, was the jaunty length of the pants.

Later, the actor stepped out for the 50th César Film Awards, where she wore a starkly chic head-to-toe Phoebe Philo to receive the hallowed honorary César award. Her look came together with a Phoebe Philo custom, sharp shoulder asymmetric top in black, custom wool zip trousers, the small black leather Gig bag and a menswear coat in black wool. It was a complete switch-up from her earlier fit, with the flowing trousers.

Roberts is styled by Elizabeth Stewart, who also works frequently with Elizabeth Olsen, Amanda Seyfried, and Cate Blanchett.

Whatever the look or the trouser lengths, it always comes with Julia Roberts’ trademark dazzling smile.
