Love ’em or hate ’em, barrel jeans are having their day in the sun. The bow-legged silhouette, which sits in between baggy jeans and body-hugging skinny jeans, has stirred up some controversy (namely among those who find the pants “unflattering.”) But the jeans are racking up celebrity fans left and right, from Gigi Hadid to Blake Lively.
The latest star to take barrel jeans for a test drive is none other than Julianne Moore. Even though we’re all still talking about her performance in May December, the actor is already onto promoting her latest venture, Mary George, in which she stars alongside Nicholas Galitzine.
For her press duties, Moore put a trendy spin on the time-honored Canadian tuxedo. She wore a set from Alaïa’s fall 2023 collection—a denim shirt with matching barrel legged jeans—which she paired with black peep-toe heels, gold statement earrings, and black sunglasses.
Moore took a different approach to the outfit from how it appeared on the runway. Alaïa styled the look with a popped collar, tucked into cuffed jeans. The Oscar winner kept her collar flat, her top untucked, and her jeans uncuffed.
