Kylie Jenner’s Latest Paris Fashion Week Look Is the Definition of the “Wrong Shoe Theory”

The Jenner sisters have gone straight from the front rows of Milan Fashion Week to Paris, as this evening Kylie watched Kendall close the Schiaparelli show. It looks like Kylie was inspired by the family’s own red carpet archive this evening, as she wore a skin-tight crystal-encrusted halter-neck gown that is remarkably similar to the “Happy Birthday, Mr President” Marilyn Monroe dress that Kim Kardashian wore to the Met Gala in 2022.

The Marilyn-style gown has a scooped neckline leading to a keyhole cut-out at the chest, which is for those in the know a marker that the dress is a Schiaparelli creation, as the keyhole plaque is a significant code for the house. The dress is pure Old Hollywood bombshell material, however Jenner subverted the glamour somewhat with her off-beat choice of footwear. Could she have been reading Vogue’s coverage of the “wrong shoe theory” or “toes being the new legs”?

Jenner selected a pair of nude, slightly strange pumps which cling to and expose all of her toes. Schiaparelli has a thing for toes, as for several seasons (including the recent autumn/winter 2023 offering) it has created pumps with the tips sculpted to look like gilded talons. Jenner’s shoes are the latest “toe-inspired footwear” to come from the house, as they were seen on the runway of tonight’s SS24 collection styled with look 8.

Jenner’s Paris Fashion Week wardrobe so far seems to be centered around these pedi-spreader shoes — two days ago she wore a pair of Miu Miu’s provocative thong boots, which cover her legs almost entirely, but are sliced at the front to reveal her toes. Designers like Elena Velez, Ricky Wesley Harriott, Donatella Versace, Daniel Lee and Aaron Esh have been exposing the foot for spring 2024 with open-toed loafers and fingered socks. It’s a trend Kylie Jenner is clearly here for.
