Meghan Markle has crafted a very set style formula. In her post-Kensington Palace life, the Duchess of Sussex has shifted from HRH-inspired twinsets to a much more laid-back flavor of East Coast casual, with staples like breezy linen shirts and straight-cut denim becoming the regular touchpoints for her day-to-day looks. She’s never far from stepping out in a Carolina Herrera dress, and swaths herself in a suite of MaxMara cashmere. It’s Montecito mom, with some polish and elevated details.
And while some of Markle’s more recent appearances have delighted in her tastes for high fashion, the Duchess knows when to reach for her failsafes. She was photographed yesterday at Godmothers bookstore close to her Montecito home, at an event for her friend Courtney Adamo, wearing a simple, silky, tank top with thick straps, black tailored pants, and strapped black sandals. She wore her hair in a slick back bun and kept her makeup minimal and bronzed. It was all suitably muted and understated.
Later, Markle and Adamo took to the stage for a conversation to promote Adamo’s book, The Family Home: Inspiring Ideas for a Home Filled with Joy.
Monochromatic dressing is a tenet of Meghan Markle’s style playbook. For her recent trip to Paris Fashion Week and to sit front row at Balenciaga, she wore a full, all-white look from the label, with a flowing cape and pants. A second custom Balenciaga look put Markle in a drape necked black silk dress. An enduring lover of power suits (and on a current high-fashion streak), Markle opted for a sleek black Armani suit at a recent event for Project Healthy Minds in New York, walking the carpet with her husband Prince Harry. In her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, you’ll often see the Duchess in head-to-toe ecru and oatmeal knitwear and silks.
With the forthcoming holiday episode of the TV show to come and more teased launches from her lifestyle brand As Ever, expect to see more of Meghan Markle and her trusty neutrals.
