At a major Hollywood affair like Sunday’s Critics Choice Awards, walking the red carpet can be anxiety-inducing—no matter how big the star. It’s no wonder, then, that many nominees choose to bring a familiar date with them. And who better to tap than a close family member?
That is precisely what Sinners star Michael B. Jordan opted to do on Sunday, bringing his mom, Donna Jordan, along with him.
Donning a red double-breasted suit from Louis Vuitton (with a snazzy pink shirt, no less), Jordan proved that it’s always cool to bring your mom as a plus-one. While the two did not match outfits for the red carpet, per se, they felt cohesive as a family unit nonetheless: where he, a nominee for best actor, color-blocked, she opted for a more subdued (but very chic) black gown, accessorized with a silver nose ring.
Jordan, of course, is not the only leading gent in Hollywood to bring his mom to a splashy red carpet recently. Fellow heartthrobs such as Timothée Chalamet and Jacob Elordi have also consistently brought their mothers to events: Back in December, Chalamet brought his mom, Nicole Flender, to the LA premiere of Marty Supreme—even matching in tangerine-orange looks. In promoting Frankenstein, Elordi, on the other hand, has brought his own mom, Melissa Elordi, to affairs such as the 2025 Gotham Awards.
There is something so wholesome (and, frankly, cute) about seeing such Hollywood hunks make their moms plus-ones—especially when they could bring practically anyone in the world. (Admit it: If you were asked, you would gladly accompany them.)
The real treat tonight at the Critics Choice Awards, though, was seeing Jordan introduce his mom to Elordi—a fellow family enthusiast—on the red carpet. Mamas’ boys forever!
