On this rainy Tuesday, 76 New York City restaurants are seeing Michelin stars.
The guide released their new rankings for 2019, and 11 new restaurants made the list. The most exciting additions? Jeju Noodle Bar, a raymen (the Korean version of ramen) joint in the West Village, Atomix in NoMad, and Claro, the Oaxacan restaurant in Sunset Park. All three earned one star each.
Finally joining the Michelin ranks is Daniel Rose’s Le CouCou, which was largely considered to be snubbed in 2018 and 2017. (Michelin seemed to acknowledge this in their press release, stating “Le Coucou has been on the inspection team’s radar since it opened in 2016. Over the course of many visits, inspectors have seen a steady rise in the quality of the cuisine. The kitchen has grown in confidence, lifting it to a one-star status.) In addition, famed West Village sushi restaurant, Sushi Nakazawa, made the list for the first time ever.
At the three-star level, little has changed: Eleven Madison Park, Chef s Table at Brooklyn Fare, Le Bernardin, Masa, and Per Se continue to rule the culinary scene—they’ve held onto their stars for years.
