In what was one of the most entertaining baseball World Series in recent memory, the LA Dodgers prevailed over the Toronto Blue Jays in extra innings during Game 7 on Saturday night to take the title.

As the team celebrated, the Commissioner’s Trophy wasn’t the only piece of hardware glinting under the lights in Canada (sorry to the Six): many took note of the Dodgers shortstop Miguel Rojas’s Van Cleef Arpels 10-motif Alhambra necklace. With its clover-mimicking charms inlaid with a bright blue agate stone, Rojas not only added numbers to his excellent stats–a game-tying home run in the ninth kept the Dodgers alive–but also, his sartorial clout.

Rojas is among a number of names in the MLB who consistently wears Van Cleef Arpels: see also Tampa Bay Rays infielder Junior Caminero’s Alhambra chokers, likewise those belonging to Texas Rangers outfielder Joc Pederson.

Beyond baseball, VC A have struck a chord in pro athletics overall: tennis’s Grigor Dimitrov and Aryna Sabalenka are fans, basketball’s LeBron James has been known to wear a stack, and soccer’s Lamine Yamal has been seen wearing Alhambra bracelets.

There are myriad additional examples, with the Alhambra being the most popular of the label’s design applications. Generally speaking, this makes sense: the Alhambra is a smoothened 4-leaf clover motif, which is universally recognized as a symbol of good luck.

Miguel Rojas, though, seems to have an especially deep commitment to the 120-year-old house, and takes his baseball bijoux even further: sometimes, he’ll also sport a Sweet Butterfly stud earring. A butterfly is a bit bolder of a motif, at least by sporting standards. We’re into it, and Rojas pulls it off with aplomb–yet further proof that style, on the biggest stages of men’s sports, is thriving.
